The Q operated ALL trains on the old La Crosse Div (frt & pass) the typical RR way; i.e. right hand running. So indeed being E-bd got you 12' closer to the Mississippi River and the Iowa/MN scenery on W side of the Mississippi. On the other hand, being W-bd got you closer to nearly all the depots and the 'rock slide' fences & signs - unique to this part of the Q! Rode E. Dbq to LaX many times!
