Laird joined CB&Q His. Soc. nee BRHS in its founding year of 1976. With a Business degree from U of Iowa and experience from years with a bank, he was ideal as BRHS Treasurer. We became friends via Boy Scouts* in 1959 or "60 or so and classmates from 7th grade onward including 2 yrs together @ U of Iowa. Note too, he is a Vietnam war Vet. (we went in the same yr: 1970)
*He built, with assistance of his Dad, an Electrical Engineer, that H.O. layout that BSA's "Boy's Life" magazine promoted in the early 1960's. As kids in Dubuque, we had 4 Class I railroads to be fans of us - we both chose CB&Q!
Laird (I knew him for more years as "Larry") war and is quiet & unassuming, hard working and as honest as the day is long. Thanks Laird for a LOT of high-quality work without ever seeing any recognition; we owe you a lot!
