The first time I went to Railroad Days, the yard tour train was in gondolas. My father dropped his camera's lens cap somewhere in the yard. This was early 1980s, possibly the year the cabless GEs were introduced (82?). My feeling is that RR Days had been going on for years before that. I also think (with no real basis for it) that it was not too many years later that the tour train switched to using a dinky set.

I know that you can use them for Railroad Days in Galesburg, with a 6 car set being used to tour the yard in 1997.

I am not sure that Galesburg yard existed as it does today in CB&Q times, but when did Railroad Days start in Galesburg? I wasn’t sure if that was a tradition started by CB&Q or if that came about as part of the BN? Trying to figure out when the tour of the yard via Gallery Cars came about.

Tom,

Having just been paging through the Aurora division Conductors booking book I found two Boy Scout specials to White Pines that had several double decks in the consists.

For those of us that don't model the commuter lines but are eager to have an excuse to order a Rapido Gallery car:

1. I know the Budd Gallery Cars were used on many of the steam fan trips. So that is an option.

2. As I recall (and I may be wrong on this), but I think a Gallery car may have shown up occasionally on the Twin Cities Zephyr when traffic was high on certain occasions. Or perhaps on some sort of deadhead for some other reason? Can anyone recall when or photos a Gallery car might have been on the TCZ?
