Since Walthers chose the Block gothic lettering  (post 1958 Chinese Red era),  the roof should be silver or aluminium. Unless the photographer had a raised vantage point or was far enough away to see the roof walk, the over-spray on the edge could give the false impression of a yellow roof.  The information is available if a manufacturer wants it. According to the Burlington Bulletin, the reefers built in 1937 were painted in the standard BRE / FGE / WFE scheme of  yellow with mineral red ends and roofs when built. The Kalmbach guide to industries series book Produce Traffic and Trains comments under the section on Burlington Refrigerator Express notes that the standard BRE paint scheme was yellow with mineral red ends and roof, but that the roofs were changed to silver after 1949.
