Bill

Yes, I used Street View and the Satellite images, but hoped for a photo of the
site I could use for the article, which is about the Grant Locomotive Works
which occupied the site. The Satellite views show the footprint of the
buildings and the tracks, and the Street View image shows where the tracks
entered the property.

Thanks for the information about the Belt Railway connection - that was my next
question.

According to a 1893 diagram, there was (or was planned) a N.P. commuter station
on 16th Avenue at this junction. Can anyone throw any light on NP commuter
lines in this area?

Rupert,

Did you try Street View? It looks like a construction site with some new
buildings being built on the northwest part of the property. It looks like a
commercial structure. There is an active railroad track running along the south
side of 16th St. which appears to have had access to the property in question.
The track still serves some other industries along the way. To the west, there
appears to be some covered hoppers sitting north of 16 St. To the east, just
past Cicero Ave. the industrial line connects to the Belt Railway of Chicago
which runs north and south and interchanges with the Q / BNSF at the east end
of Clyde Yard.
