Be careful about adding white or your red will go pink. Some use a light to
medium gray instead of white; some use Armour yellow. I do the fading with
weathering chalks on a base coat of Tru Color CB&Q Freight Car Red, oversprayed
with Model Master Flat Clear. If you want to use Floquil, ATSF Mineral Red is a
closer match to CB&Q mineral red than Tuscan Red, which has a purple tinge.
ATSF Mineral Red is almost an exact match for the factory paint on Walthers
Gold Line CB&Q waycars and factory paint on the Challenger CB&Q brass waycars
after giving them a coat of flat clear as a weathering base.

Thanks for the info. I like Floquil's Tuscon Red (I know, it's no longer
available) for the Mineral Red, especially on wooden structures. I might try
adding a little white or a white wash to capture the fading.
