I am posting this message to the IC list as well. I recently looked at a photo of the westbound EB-NCL taken at Portage, Illinois, probably taken from the old 3-track signal bridge. There is some trackwork going on, which appears to be the relocation of the connection of the CB&Q with the IC approximately 2,000’ east of the original connection. One of the CB&Q mains is already partially torn up in the vicinity of the old Portage Tower location. I am wondering if there is anyone on the list who knows specifically if this trackwork took place by CB&Q prior to merger. The photo appears to pre-merger, but after 1967 (Big Sky Blue GN cars are represented in the EB). Very early BN employee timetables show evidence of this relocation being complete, but CB&Q timetables do not mention it, at least that I can find. Any information would be appreciated.
