You'll get a lot of feed back, but with structures these might be a start. White, black, tan, roof brown, a blue, red, green and a shade of yellow just t name a few.

What paints and colors should I have on hand? Right now I am looking at
doing scenery and structures. I live in a remote area a long ways from
any decent hobby shop, much less a model railroad shop. Everything has
to come by the big brown truck. So, what would be a good starting color
collection to have on hand? I will be going to a model railroad show
this weekend about 100 miles away so a shopping list would be good to
have in hand.
