Check "Chicago, Ottumwa and Hannibal" ETT #2 dated April 27, 1969.  For a brief time from that date until January 18, 1970, Train #1 departed Chicago at 5:35 PM.  I see two other CB&Q trains listed on the post in the photo, Q #3 departing at 9:15 PM, and Q #51 departing at 10:45 PM.  By this time #51 had been renumbered from #47, #35 was renumbered #5 and only went as far as West Quincy (and lost it's RPO), and #7 had been discontinued.  I believe #11 had also lost it's head-end business.  The times of the three remaining trains that would have carried mail, and are chalked up in the photo, is the same as listed in ETT #2.

Trains #1 and #10 (renumbered to #2 by this time) carried RPO's.

I found a couple of the articles in the Sept Issue of Trains pretty interesting:

2) the photo of the painted post in the basement tunnels of CUS,with the departure times for mail handling trains, got me to do some digging in my collection. I answered all my questions except about what is shown as Q #1,the Denver Zephyr. I was not aware that it carried mail. And secondly I can't find in any ETT where it departed CUS @ 5:35.
