3D printers are all different and use different kinds of material (even
producing metal) Different companies and materials mean different levels of
finish. I know there is a few more companies out there besides Shapeways that
make finer resolution in printing, but they are more expensive.
Hopefully the printers will keep on improving, and you HO and O scale guys can
print details, while us N and Z guys can print whole cars.
