Bob
The Oregon operator did not have any control over the switches.
Double trk meets at Rochelle were not uncommon and actually desirable as both
trains could keep moving. It was a matter of train timing and more difficult
was getting the various Rochelle road switchers to get off the mains. I worked
bothe day and night jobs extensively and it was a constant give and take
between the DS needing one or both mains with the switch crews begging for trk
time to get all the switching done to keep all those big customers happy.
Both jobs had spots where they could lock in and still work but it was always a
timing issue w/traffic.
