Bill

Thanks for posting the photo - these cars had an interesting life.

107090 was originally built in 1910 by Haskell & Barker as an automobile car class XA-4, part of series 106600-107099.  They had a 10 foot sliding door each side with a moveable door post and a 2' x 2' 10" lumber door at the ends.  Between 1916 and 1923, these cars were rebuilt into XM-15 box cars with a sliding door each side of 5' 5½" width, similar to the rest of the XM-15's (107100-108599) that had been built in 1910. In 1926, 300 XM-15's were rebuilt at Aurora with steel centre sills and ends, and were renumbered to 121000-121299 as class XM-27.

A friend sent me a link to some photos from The Pennsylvania State Archives of the Buffalo & Susquehanna. Among them, I found this view of a freight house in Wellsville, NY with CB&Q box car no. 107090 standing at the dock. I thought some of you might be  interested in seeing this view.
