I don't know about scheduled passenger service, but in the fan trip era, the Q did run one or more trips to Galena. The one I rode was on October 6, 1957 with O-5 no. 5631 from Chicago to Savanna and a GP7 to Galena. There was at least one trip with no. 4960 and it may have gone all the way to Galena. I don't have the date, but have seen a photo of no. 4960 at the junction where the Galena branch joined the main line. I think there was a depot at the junction.
