Ray, Christ and Others,

Some here may not be aware that both the Durango & Silverton and
the C&TS will be under the control of the same operator starting this
season.  Al Harper, owner/operator of the D&S has been approved by the
Bi-State Commission to operate the C&TS which according to several posts
at other sites, has planned some major changes, one of which may be 
restricted access to the yard and facilities at Chama, somewhat akin to the
facilities at Durango.

That said, either trip is well worthwhile, especially in the fall.  Durango is
of course, more tourist friendly at all times, while Chama might be considered 
quaint.  Lodging, restaurants, gas stations are somewhat limited in Chama but 
doing a little on-line research beforehand should help eliminate potential 
problems.
