I was looking through some train orders I purchased from Keokuk in 1949.
There are two orders in early June that year that are very similar and
state the following:
American Eagle 425 Works Extra 730 am Until 530 pm Between Keokuk and
Alexandria Protects against Second Class trains Not protecting against
Extra trains
Assumptions are bad with this little information, but I assume this was
a leased crane or special service crane that the Q was using for some
work in that area. I also assume it could move under it's own power
since there was no engine assigned to it in the order. There was one
order I have on June 11 and another on June 17. Any one have any
additional information on this crane and what it might have been doing?
