Sorry, not Q related...

 

Most of the aparment buildings in my neighborhood still have the coal chute doors in place. Clearly visible are the cast in markings such as ' No. XX Coal Chute' etc. Some have had the doors removed and had the gas meter placed there or converted to dryer vent exits.

The larger buildings have small driveways in the curb so the truck could back up to the chute and unload straight into the basement. Others have the chute out in the alley.

Little things like this are what I love about my neighborhood.
