A surprising person that may be able to direct you to information sources on 
your very, very interesting small bus is Jim Lehrer, the host of PBS/s NewsHour 
out of Washington, DC.  He is an unabashed  bus fan and a bus expert, and he 
may be able to direct you further. 

I suspect the "Zephyr" styling is just that:  styling patterned after the 
exciting new streamlined trains of the day, but with no inherent further RR 
connection.
