The combination that formed Continental Trailways was in place by the summer of
1960 when my brother and I rode chartered Trailways buses from Denver to the
JCC ranch camp outside Elbert, Colorado, and then later in August when we rode
the Gallup bus (a PD4104) to Durango to visit Mesa Verde and ride the Narrow
Gauge to Silverton. We returned on another Trailways PD4104. It was that trip
that sparked my bus interest and the PD4104 remains my favorite bus of all
time. In any case, Continental Trailways seemed to me to have a seamless
operation and quite a variety of buses from Flxible to GM to the newly
introduced German-built Eagles and Super Eagles.
