This sounds like an excellent research project for someone to pursue and write
up as a bulletin article……
Remember, the route into Chicago varied over the years so Milepost “0” might
have been calculated from different starting points.
The way to compare would be to determine if there is any station or other known
timetable point that has remained constant over the years…. a difficult task
since the Aurora Branch originally went via West Chicago and there were line
adjustments on the Chicago-Aurora main as well.
The exact location of some of the early terminals hasn’t been precisely tied
down either…..
A fun project for somebody to follow up on!!!!
