Thanks for clarifying what your source of information is on Gavin. In its
fully operational day, I recall going past on a passenger train and just being
“wowed” at the sight of that really long tail track (it seemed like it was at
least a mile) with switch engines pushing long strings of cars over the hump.
I did note that the tail track ended. You could not access the hump from the
east. You could only pull a string of cars out of the yard, up the hump, and
then start pushing back. That was a time-consuming move, but somebody figured
out that was the right move at that time for Gavin.
