While there was a thread on the Besler car before, a friend just sent me a the
following link to a Besler film showing a single unit car in a Budd-built
carbody demonstrating on the CB&Q in 1934. While the T&P Micheline two-unit
car preceded this, this previously mostly unremarked car, built at the
Davenport, IA Besler plant and demonstrated on the CB&Q certainly is
interesting especially in light of the CB&Q building the Pioneer Zephyr in 1934.
Charlie Vlk
Besler was involved with at least one steam powered railcar, along the
general line of gas-electric powered railcars, and at least one automobile. A
two car railcar set was on the New Haven. A stainless steel experimental car
was built at the Davenport-Besler plant and tested on the CB&Q.
