The early Baldwin and EMC switchers did see service in the all Black scheme.
There are photos of the units in service in this scheme so they probably lasted
a few years during the war before getting Black and Gray EWWZ. The scheme was
somewhat a continuation of the paint that had been applied to the earlier
steeplecab gas and diesel electric switchers.
I think the band was Gold as it probably was a steam locomotive tender
decal.... but it could have been Red.
