I agree with Tim; have seen these in the potbelly stoves in old waycars and use 
in an older depot makes sense too (IC depot used by Q in E. Dubuque had such a 
stove in waiting room well into the 1950's)  The 1637 is probably casting # 
from the foundry at Aurora.

I have two of these. Iam assuming they were used in depots and waycars to scoop 
coal ash out of heating & cook stoves. Anybody else ?
