I painted one but did not use decals as I am not sure they were
available then. First I painted it silver and let it dry thoroughly.
Then I masked the roof, doors, ends, windows etc. Then I got some thin
auto striping tape (1/16"?) and laid them out leaving about an equal
amount between them for both the letterboard and lower part, then added
masking for the number. I then sprayed it with a medium to dark gray, do
NOT use black. The lower part is fine, the letterboard is a little big
as it has narrower fluting but I couldn't find narrower tape.
The best part was I showed it to a friend who worked in a LHS and he
looked at it for 10 minutes before he realized it was painted and not
etched.
