There was a query on the Steam Era Freight Car List about gondolas GM-1 and
GM-2 195000-196499 built by Western Steel and Galesburg
in 1925 and 1927, seeking an in-service photo, paint scheme and details of any
particular customer or service.
The only photo I've found is in Zephyr #55 page 22 of a GM-2 but it was taken
after the sides had been rebuilt with box car ends. I
presume that these cars would have been painted mineral red with white
lettering, with a Burlington Route herald possibly at the
centre of the sides.
Can anyone provide any photo locations or other information? Please include
Claus in your reply.
