This was on the early rail list. If you model Illinois some of these
might be of interest to you.

Hi everyone,
I'm sure many of you know that the Illinois State Historic Preservation Agency
has a page of free downloads for HO scale paper buildings on it.
http://www.illinoishistory.gov/ps/construct_mainstreet.htm#BYOM
The site has recently been updated, and there are now ten downtown-type
buildings up, uncluding an 1888 Romanesque library, five 1880-1890 storefronts,
and one 1840 three story corner brick store.
The site has also been updated to include several Lincoln site structures:
http://www.illinoishistory.gov/ps/construct_mainstreet.htm#BYOL
Besides the 1840's store (which housed Lincoln's law office) there are five
structures: two "log cabins", the Great Western railroad station, the old state
capitol building (LARGE!) and the main building of Knox College (LARGE!).
If you need period structures, head on over there and start downloading! Even
as placeholders, background structures, or as kitbashing templates they're VERY
useful. If you're not in HO scale download 'em anyway, and print them out in
your scale of choice.
Regards,
Ray Breyer
