A quick comment to keep you going until you attend the next Meet!.
Gas-electrics were introduced to keep costs down on "minor" trains whilst
keeping the lines alive. Of the 66-odd motors that the CB&Q owned, about 36
were built with passenger accommodation - I don't think they saw just too
much extra traffic at holiday time. If you look at photos of the motors in
action in a passenger mode as opposed to freight only, it is rare to see
them pulling more than two headend cars or coaches.
