[CBQ] Re: westbound sheep

Well got home tonight and found my calendar had arrived in the mail. The photo 
in question is indeed a wonderful photo. I noted
the photo caption indicates the was taken at Mendota and the load of sheep may 
be headed toward Princeton, information that had
not been included in the original question/posting. I also noted I miss typed 
in my most recent response (should know better than
to type in an airport). I meant to say "While Steve's postings are good, I 
don't believe they are 100% reflective of what took
place before 1950 in regards to livestock movements." Sorry about any confusion.

RE: the calendar photo, I am not clear why Princeton could be a destination. It 
could very well be a load purchased by a local
farmer for fattening, esp. if it just a single load. It may have been part of a 
larger shipment coming in from western grasslands,
like feeder calves. Or it could be a load of breeding stock being delivered.

The photo was taken in 1956, at which time trucks were beginning to dominate 
the livestock traffic.
