I am told this question is answered in one of the BRHS' Bulletins, but
since my collection is incomplete, would throw this out for a short
answer.
Why did some of the Burlington E-7s and E-8s have the stainless steel
side panels, and some did not? Another member told me it was a retrofit
idea. But what I would like to know if there was a method, or no rhyme
or reason to it. Did they plan to assign the SS units to certain
trains, or what-have-you? Thanks. HJebone.
