Can anyone guide me in searching for funding (grant) for the
restoration & preservation of our 1882 QO&KC depot and our 1954
SP&S/BN caboose?
The depot has, just this month, been caulked and re-painted. Caboose
(waycar) is in the process of restoration by an individual member.
* We would like to refurbish our trackage and increase it from about
45ft to 130ft. The existing track and roadbed would need to be replaced.
* We would like to restore our platform. Curbing to be replaced and
bricks re-laid. Additional bricks required for front entrance area.
* We would like to restore our Section House. It needs to be
reinforced, re-roofed, turned 90degrees and re-set on a foundation.
* If trackage is extended, we would like to obtain another suitable
car, possibly a CB&Q flatcar.
Pretty ambitious for a very small historical society, but we are
hopeful for a successful program over the next few years.
