Rick,

I have an interest in railway history of the
Leavenworth area. I currently live in Platte City MO.

In researching the Q in Leavenworth I think it started
with full/frequent service starting in 1894 with the
new rail bridge. At some point (late thirties?) less
service in the form of fewer stops by locals and more
access to other trains via bus to Beverly MO only
began. The pioneer Zephyr stopped at Leavenworth.

My only ride on the Q (1960) was from Beverly MO. By
then the Burlington depot in Leavenworth was closed.

I have a clipping (1955) from an Atchison paper
indicating bus service from the depot to Armor. I
would think shuttle bus service would have been a
natural extension of the Trailways bus service offered
by the Burlington. I have an sampling of Official
Guide pages for the Burlington serving Leavenworth
indicating shuttle bus and over the road service

Dave Amaro...
