To All,

The new signals west of Savanna are being installed in conjunction
with an extension of C. T. C. and coded track circuits designed to
eliminate the antiquated open pole line and aerial/underground cable
signal circuitry.

C. T. C. will start at the new cantilever signal located at M. P.
146.2 and be controlled by the C. & I. Dispatcher. Only the
eastbound signals will be Controlled Signals, the westbound signals
will be Automatic Block Signals. The current eastbound searchlight
signal at 146 IS a "Non-Stick Semi-Automatic" Absolute Signal (no
number plate and the train does not cancel the request when it passes
the signal, making it appear to operate like a regular block signal),
which is currently controlled by the C. & I. Dispatcher even though
the LaCrosse Dispatcher issues the authority for train movements west
of M. P. 143.21. Eastbounds currently have to make sure they can get
all the way through town before they pass the 146 signal by
contacting the C. & I. Dispatcher

There are also new signals the the M. P. 148 and 150 signal
locations. The eastbound signal on Main One (Westward Main) will be
a "Distant" signal governing the approach to the C. T. C. at M. P.
146.2 and as such can display only a Clear or Approach indication
even though there is a train in the block in advance of it. The
switches at the west end of the yard and on the connecting track will
have electric switch locks also.

The new signals will be cut in on Wednesday, October 12. The
dispatcher territories will split at the new cantilever signals and
hopefully will end the which is who's railroad game.
