Upon further review, if you read the text, it indicates where mechanical 
washers are, and just indicates that cars were washed at SLC & 
Portola.  The implication, if one were of a mind, is that these too are 
mechanical washers - the one at Portola was semi-mechanical, as it sprayed 
a stream of water as the cars rolled through, but there were no automatic 
brushes.
