s discussed earlier, the "red" cab-roof was not a "color scheme", but a
maintenance measure, intended to shield against the corrosive action of soot
and cinders - it was a red lead relative, similar to an oxide red. Some
modelers' paint lines (particularly military models) have a color called "red
lead". That would not be bad.
Such materials were often shop-mixed, so some variation is not only allowable
but prototypical . . .
