Great story. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us.

We just had an Amtrak Engineer retire here in Sacramento. He hired out with 
the SP in 1951 and was #1 on the Amtrak national seniority roster. Like 
yours, his recollections are fascinating. I suspect Norm and many other 
members have stories that could fill volumes. Keep em coming!
