I seem to remember in the Lines East Corporate History by W.W. Baldwin there was an isolated chunk of railroad called the Chicago, Burlington & Hammond (or something like that). It was a yard in either East Chicago or Hammond next to a BRC Yard near the steel mills. I don't remember who told me but it dated from the steam days and a 2-10-2 was stationed down there....apparently to haul slag ballast over the BRC to distribute on Lines East. Charlie |
