Check photo bottom of page 45 of Corbin's "Steam Locomotives of the 
Burlington Route". Look familiar to what you saw? I think that quarry 
closed (to rail traffic anyway) about the time they built the East-West 
tollway (1956 or 1957) but I'm not certain. Karl Rethwisch might be able to 
add to this discussion. Leo Philip has added some comments identifying the 
operation.
