In 1987, when I was working as engineer on trains #821/#304, the speed limit thru Lockport was 79 MPH and thru Lemont was 50 MPH. Always a thrill passing thru Lockport at 79 wondering if we would hit a pedestrian crossing the tracks after they had finished a big meal at the restaurant adjacent to Main #1. Things may have changed in 14 years. Bob Campbell Engineer #3/#4 CHI-FMD [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
